Savings Jar Challenge for Fitness
Some goals don’t fit “win 20 of 30 days”. If you’re saving towards something big — shoes, a bike, a trip — the savings jar turns every active day into money in the jar.
How the jar works
Pick a daily goal (say, 10,000 steps) and a value per win (say, ₹500). Every day you win, ₹500 drops into the jar. Win 40 days and you’ve earned ₹20,000 towards whatever you named. Miss a day and the jar simply waits — nothing is lost.
A concrete example
Goal: run 5 km. Value: ₹500 per win. Target: ₹20,000 running shoes. That’s 40 runs — about three months of running three times a week, with rest weeks built in. The jar shows ₹8,500 of ₹20,000, and every run visibly moves it.
Why it beats all-or-nothing
- No failed months. A slow month still fills the jar a little.
- Every day pays. Each win is worth the same, so Tuesday counts as much as Saturday.
- The prize is proportional. More effort, more jar — automatically fair.
Tips for a good jar
- Price the prize first, then divide by realistic wins — not fantasy wins.
- Keep the daily goal easy enough to win twice a week at minimum.
- Name the jar after the thing, not the money: “shoe fund” beats “₹20,000”.
wonday tracks the jar for you: Apple Health counts the day, the jar fills, and when it’s full the reward is earned. You pay for it — wonday only keeps the score.
